PM's grant for Nagaland

KOHIMA OCT. 29. The Prime Minister, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, today announced a Rs. 1,050-crore package for further accelerating the process of socio-economic development in Nagaland.

The package, consisting of nearly 18 projects, included a 23-MW thermal power plant at a cost of Rs. 105 crores, a Rs. 400-crore proposal for including Kohima into the Golden Quadrilateral of the National Highway Development Project and a Rs. 20-crore Regional Institute for Information Technology. The package was in addition to the Rs. 880.24 crores sanctioned for Nagaland after the Conference of Governors and Chief Ministers at Shillong in January 2000.
