NEW DELHI OCT. 30. The Prime Minister, A.B. Vajpayee, today joined the Prince of Wales, Prince Charles, in giving a clarion call to all sections of society to eradicate unemployment in Asia by supporting youth entrepreneurship initiatives and creating an enabling environment for new millionaires to emerge from a judicious combination of social mentoring and financial help.

``We have to take up eradication of unemployment as a mission. Private sector, banks and financial institutions, panchayati raj institutions, NGOs, trade unions and all other sections of society should work closely with the Union and State Governments in carrying out this mission,'' Mr. Vajpayee said at the special plenary session of the Asian Summit on Youth Entrepreneurship and Employment. He hailed the Prince as a representative of ``an enlightened royalty alive to the concerns of the modern world''.The Prince said he was happy to note that a project promoting youth entrepreneurship that took shape in 1992 as the Bharatiya Yuva Shakti Trust (BYST) and that endeavoured to spread his model of providing mentoring and funds to aspiring young entrepreneurs had not only taken firm roots in India but was spreading his wings to other parts of Asia as well.

Stating that the magnitude of the problem of providing livelihood to people was still quite daunting, Prince Charles said governments had a critical role to play in encouraging start-ups, in helping businesses when they were fragile.
