New train to run on Sundays, Wednesdays

BANGALORE NOV. 1. The Bangalore-Dadar Bi-weekly Express train, which was flagged off by the Minister of State for Railways, Basanagouda R. Patil Yatnal, here on Saturday, will leave Bangalore City Railway Station on Sundays and Wednesdays beginning November 5, the Bangalore Divisional Railway Manager, Mahesh Kumar, has said.

He told presspersons that the train would leave from the city station on Sundays and Wednesdays at 6.20 a.m. and reach Dadar (Mumbai) the next day at 7.25 a.m. It would leave Dadar railway station on Mondays and Fridays at 10.45 p.m. and reach Bangalore the next day at 10.20 p.m.

(A release from South-western Railway says the train will run via Tumkur, Tiptur, Arsikere, Birur, Davangere, Harihar, Haveri, Hubli, Dharwad, Londa, Belgaum, Ghataprabha, Miraj, Pune, Londawala, and Kalyan. It will have one two-tier AC coach, one three-tier AC coach, nine three-tier second sleeper-class coaches, four general second-class coaches, and two second-class cum luggage vans.)

Mr. Kumar said a call centre would be established at the city railway station to provide information about train timings to passengers.

He said 200 additional coaches had been provided in different trains in the past two months to accommodate more passengers. The revenue of the division had increased by 20 per cent, he added.

Train extended

The Marikuppam-Bangarpet Passenger, which runs on all days except Sundays, will be extended to and from Bangalore from Monday, a release from South-western Railway says.

Train No. 512 Marikuppam-Bangarpet-Bangalore Passenger will leave Marikuppam at 8.05 a.m. and reach Bangalore at 11.20 a.m.

Train No. 513 Bangalore- Bangarpet-Marikuppam Passenger will leave Bangalore at 12.10 p.m. and arrive Marikuppam at 3.15 p.m.

The train will run via Champion, Ooragaum, Coromandal, BEML Nagar, Bangarpet, Tyakal, Malur, Devangonthi, Whitefield, Krishnarajapuram, Baiyappanahalli, Bangalore East, and Bangalore Cantonment.

The train will have six general second-class coaches and one second-class cum luggage vans.
