Official jailed for graft

HYDERABAD NOV. 1. The Superintendent of the Rajampet MRO office in Cudapah district, P. Chandrashekhar Reddy, was sentenced to undergo two years imprisonment and pay Rs. 2,000 fine, as he was found guilty in a corruption case. The judgment was delivered by the Special Judge for SPE and ACB Cases, Nellore, a press release said.

Sleuths of the ACB caught Mr. Reddy on December 2, 1996, on charges of accepting Rs. 500 bribe from a person for sanctioning hut insurance amount.

Dismissed from service

The Government dismissed a former Senior Assistant of the Commercial Taxes Department, T. Laxmi Narsaiah, from service following his conviction by the Special Judge for SPE and ACB Cases, Vijayawada, in a corruption case.

Narsaiah was caught by ACB officials on July 16, 1994, on the charge of accepting Rs. 4,000 bribe on behalf of a DCTO from the proprietor of an electronic shop, a press release said.

Subsequently, he was sentenced to undergo rigorous imprisonment for one year, as he was found guilty of the charge.
