Plan to set up tool designing centre for small units

NELLORE NOV. 1. The Information Minister, S. Chandramohan Reddy, has said that 32,528 persons have been provided house site pattas so far, as against the target of 50,000 in Nellore district.

The Minister who was the chief guest at the A.P. Formation Day celebrations held at the police parade grounds here on Saturday, said that 125 colonies has been provided with power supply at a cost of Rs. 2.50 crores. Taking into consideration the representations received during the last 19 phases of Janmabhoomi, 7,380 works had been completed at a cost of Rs.120 crores.

The Minister expressed happiness at the recent rainfall, which helped the farming community undertake the necessary works. He also dwelt at length on the progress made by several welfare corporations of the district. Referring to the village link roads under the Prime Minister's special programme, he said so far, 52 roads had been completed. For setting up small-scale industries, a tool designing centre would be coming up at Kakuturu, at a cost of Rs.14 crores, he said.

On education front, The Minister said schools were provided additional classrooms and infrastructure. He thanked philanthropists for donating plates and tumblers for the mid-day meal scheme.

He made a special mention about housing sector and said more than 6,493 houses had been built under various schemes in the district. Efforts had been made to plant saplings under the auspices of the Social Forestry Department. As many as 712 youth associations had been granted Rs.12 lakhs as part of financial assistance.

The district Collector, G. Anantha Ramu, the Joint Collector, Luv Agarwal, the SP, K.V. Rajendranath Reddy, the MP, U. Rajeswaramma, the in-charge municipal chairman, Syed Sandani Basha, the ZP Chairman, P. Chenchal Babu, a large number of officials and non-officials were present on the occasion. Later, the Minister declared open a horticultural exhibition at Town Hall.
