Society should support youth to achieve goals, says VC

By Our Staff Reporter

Pondicherry Nov. 1. The Vice-Chancellor of the Pondicherry University, A.K. Bhatnagar, has called upon the society to support the youth to achieve their goals.

Distributing certificates to nearly 100 students who participated in a one-day workshop on `dynamics of peace, leadership and human development in globalising world', organised by the Pondicherry wing of the Science and Technology for Knowledge society here today, Prof. Bhatnagar said the Pondicherry University had plans to make average students better performers. This would be particularly oriented towards students from poor families, downtrodden and underprivileged.

This experiment had been accomplished successfully in the University of Hyderabad (a Central University), where Prof. Bhatnagar was working prior to the present assignment. He hoped this would be done in Pondicherry with cooperation of all sections.

Corruption did not mean mere taking of bribes. Even not coming on time to duty and not doing one's obligations perfectly also was another part of corruption, he said.

He lauded the efforts of the Knowledge Society to realise the ideal of Vision 2020 in keeping with the pattern set by the President, A.P.J. Abdul Kalam.

Prof. Bhatnagar released a project report of the society and the first copy was received by former chairman of the society and member of the Pondicherry Planning Board, M.S. Krishnamoorthy.

S.S. Reddy from the Anna University released a `e.book' (floppy) of the society.

The workshop discussed the modalities to achieve leadership and establish peace in society.
