Letters to the Editor
Sir, Your editorial, "Retain the initiative" ( Nov. 1 ) on Pakistan's response to India's peace proposal is extremely naïve. Pakistan has consistently maintained its territorial right in Kashmir and will seek all means fair and foul to achieve its goal. All governments, past and present, are responsible for the mess in Kashmir. Our media also are equally confused.
Sankarappa,
Sir, The world is turning into a global village. India should call for the reunification of the splinter countries carved out of it, in which case the Kashmir imbroglio will die a natural death. It should call for the unification of Pakistan and Bangladesh with it, along the lines of German reunification, and name the republic the united states of India.
V.G.C. Jayaram,
