Andhra Pradesh-Hyderabad
By Our Special Correspondent
He asserted that the party leaders who work at the field level could stake claim for the party ticket in the next elections, whenever they were held. "The party tickets will be given to only those who show their work at the field levels not to those sitting in their rooms," he said. In a brief chat with reporters after his arrival at the Hyderabad airport, Mr Azad said that the groupism in the party was contained to a large extent. In view of this, the party leadership had decided to gear up the leaders and cadre by organising programmes like the Prajahita Yatra. Mr Azad, who is recovering from dengue fever, said "the programme was cancelled twice earlier and dead or alive I wanted to make it. Another cancellation would send wrong signals about the party's seriousness," he said. On the demand for a separate PCC for Telangana, he said the party leadership only wanted the leaders not to raise the issue till the elections to the five states. A majority of the leaders complied with the request although a few legislators were, however, harping on it.
