By Our Staff Reporter
According to the police, the Mandawali police received a complaint against a beauty parlour -- operating from C-5, Madhu Vihar, Indraprastha Extension, Mandawali, in the name of "Reliable Beauty Parlour" -- on Saturday. The complainant, identified as Jyoti, wife of Raj Kumar, a businessman living on rent in a guest house at Paharganj in Central Delhi. A raid was conducted following the complaint and the accused, identified as Ritu Chouhan, a resident of Kingsway Camp in North-West Delhi, was arrested. The police said Jyoti had read an advertisement in a newspaper about a vacancy for a beautician's job at Reliable Beauty Parlour. Jyoti and her husband contacted Ritu and she got the job. On the first day of the job, she met three other girls at the parlour. Around the same time, a man came to the parlour and had a talk with Ritu. Following the talk, Ritu asked the man to have a look at all the four girls and select one. The man selected Jyoti and she was asked to accompany him to a cabin. The man allegedly took off his clothes and tried to force Jyoti to do the same. However, Jyoti resisted and raised an alarm. She tried to seek help from Ritu but she did not help. Ritu also tried to induce Jyoti by offering her more money for the services. Even as Jyoti tried to get out of the parlour, Ritu and the man kept her confined for more than an hour. However, Jyoti managed to free herself from their clutches and reported the matter to the Mandawali police station. Interrogation of the accused revealed that after completing her post-graduation from a College in Meerut, Ritu came to Delhi and began indulging in prostitution rackets in the garb of a parlour. She had earlier operated such rackets at Meerut, Kingsway Camp and Rohini. Jyoti has also got her statement recorded under section 164 (recording of statement before the Metropolitan Magistrate) of the Criminal Procedure Code.
