Punjabi singer arrested

PATIALA NOV. 3. The Patiala police today arrested the Punjabi pop singer, Sukhwinder Mann, in a case of alleged human trafficking even as they raided various places in Delhi, Chandigarh, Mohali and Panchkula last night to arrest Daler Mehndi, who, too, had been booked in a similar case on October 4.

The district police chief, P.S. Umranangal said Jalandhar-based Mann was arrested from nearby Nurkheri village on the charge of duping a man of Rs. 8 lakhs on the promise of sending his two sons to the United States. Police laid a trap with the assistance of complainant Balbir Singh, who called Mann to Nurkheri village this morning. Mann is the second Punjabi singer to be arrested in Punjab in one month. Last month, police had arrested Sukhwinder Panchi on the charge of duping people on the pretext of sending them abroad. — UNI
