Yamaha Motor sales up

NEW DELHI NOV. 3. Two-wheeler maker Yamaha Motor India today reported a 22.8 per cent sales growth in October over the sales recorded during the same month last year.

Total sales touched 40,296 units last month against 32,792 units sold in October 2002, a company statement said here.

Yamaha Motor India, a whollyowned subsidiary of Yamaha Motor Corp. of Japan, attributed the growth to the growing sales of its motorcycle Crux in the executive segment and 106cc motorcycle Libero.

The launch of the new variant, Crux 5KA3, has further helped Yamaha capture a significant share in the market, it said.

After setting shop in India way back in 1985, the company entered into a joint venture with the Escorts group in 1996, but later bought out the joint venture partner. — PTI
