Rupee ends lower

MUMBAI NOV. 4. Fresh dollar demand from corporates and importers exerted renewed pressure on the rupee today on the back of a resurgent dollar against major global currencies, but healthy trade and investment inflows limited the rupee's losses.

In choppy two-way trading at the interbank foreign exchange market, the rupee closed at 45.3250/3350 a dollar, a two paise decline from Monday's finish of 45.3050/3150, but a sharp turnaround from the early low of 45.36/37. It opened on a weak note at 45.32/33, reflecting the dollar's rally against major currencies. The dollar held near two-week high against the euro and hit two-week peak against the yen on Monday, buoyed by last week's strong U.S. growth data and ahead of key manufacturing surveys from the Euro zone, the U.K. and the U.S. — PTI
