Association criticises plan to abolish posts

By Our Staff Reporter

Bangalore Nov. 4. The Karnataka State Industries and Commerce Department Employees' Association today criticised the department for making what it called unilateral recommendation to the Government to reduce 740 Group C and D posts by while retaining all the posts of joint director and deputy director.

The general secretary of the association, M. Bhyre Gowda, told presspersons here that the total strength was 1,768, out of which 405 Group C and D posts were abolished two years ago. Now, the Government proposed to abolish 740 posts in the same category without touching nine posts of additional director, 80 posts of joint director, and 56 posts of deputy director.

The treasurer of the association, Choudiah, urged the Government to implement the report of the Administrative Reforms Commission (ARC) in full irrespective of whether it benefited employees or not. But the department was targeting only Group C and D employees. He said 111 posts of second division assistant, 55 posts of first division assistant, 146 Group D posts, 24 posts of typist, and 36 posts of driver would go.
