CPI(M) district unit to honour veterans

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM Nov. 5. The Thiruvananthapuram district committee of the CPI(M) is organising a get-together of veteran communist leaders in the State capital.

At the function to be held here on November 7, leaders who had made great contributions to the Communist movement but are now no more would also be honoured, M. Vijaya Kumar, CPI(M) district secretary, told a press conference here today.

Kattayikonam V. Sreedhar, O. J. Joseph and Avanakuzhy Sadashivan, who are no more, and P. Fakirkhan, K. V. Surendranath, R. Prakasham and P. K. R. Warrier were among the leaders whose services would be recognised at the gathering of CPI(M) activists.

The function would be chaired by the Leader of the Opposition, V. S. Achuthanandan, while the former Chief Minister, E. K. Nayanar, would inaugurate it. The CPI(M) politburo member, E. Balanandan, would present mementos to the veterans, Mr. Vijayakumar said.
