Bid to stoke communal passions decried

By Our Special Correspondent

SHIMOGA Nov. 6. The Bababudangiri Souharda Vedike has condemned what it has termed the continuing desperate efforts of the Sangh Parivar to disturb communal harmony by openly announcing that it would make Bababudangiri "the second Ayodhya".

Addressing a press conference here today, the chief convenor of the vedike, K.L. Ashok, urged the Government in general and the Chikmagalur district administration in particular not to allow the Sangh Parivar to hold any public meeting and raise provocative slogans during the "Datta Jayanti" proposed to be held by it on December 8.

He also said that the Sangh Parivar should not be allowed to cause any damage to the dargah and other buildings at Bababudangiri.

He urged the administration not to allow the Sangh Parivar to hold the "Shobha Yatra" or any other activity in Chikmagalur or any other place on December 8.

Mr. Ashok warned that the vedike would be forced to hold a parallel demonstration in Chikmagalur at the same time to promote communal harmony if the district administration allowed the Sangh Parivar to hold the "Shobha Yatra".
