Styris' celebration for bagging the man-of-the-match award in the tie which his team won by four wickets was cut short when he was hauled by match-referee Ranjan Madugulle and slapped a $2500 fine. Styris was adjudged leg before wicket for 68 off left-arm spinner Murali Kartik by umpire A. Jayaprakash. But Styris appeared clearly unhappy with the decision and mouthed an obscenity directed at the umpire as he walked off to the pavilion. According to sources Madugalle ruled Styris guilty of dissent but stopped short of suspending him, apparently after taking into account his excellent disciplinary record. New Zealand manager Lindsay Crocker and captain Stephen Fleming were also present during the hearing. Sources said Styris had accepted the match-referee's decision. PTI
