Monsoon active over T.N.

CHENNAI NOV. 7 Northeast monsoon has been active over Tamil Nadu.

Rainfall occurred at most places over Tamil Nadu and at a few places over Kerala and Lakshadweep.

The following stations recorded heavy rainfall in cm: Ambasamudram (Tirunelveli dt.) 9, Pamban 8, Thiruthuraipoondi (Thiruvarur dt.), Manamelkudi (Pudukottai dt.), Cheranmadevi (Tirunelveli dt.) and Neyyatinkara (Thiruvananthapuram dt.) 7 each.

The other chief amounts of rainfall recorded in cms. Are: Mayiladuthurai (Nagapattinam dt.) 6, Cuddalore, Ramanathapuram and Palayamkottai and Nedumangad (Thiruvananthapuram dt.) 5 each, Tiruchendur (Tuticorin dt.), Karaikal, Papanasam (Thanjavur dt.), Kodavasal (Thiruvarur dt.), Sirkali and Vedaranyam (both Nagapattinam dt.), Aranthangi (Pudukottai dt.), Nanguneri (Tirunelveli dt.), Tuticorin and Eraniel (Kanyakumari dt.) 4 each.

FORECAST (Valid until Sunday morning): Rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at many places over Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry, South Kerala and Lakshadweep and at a few places over North Kerala. Isolated rain or thundershowers are likely to occur over South Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Rayalaseema and South Interior Karnataka. Mainly dry weather will prevailover Telangana, North Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Coastal and North interior Karnataka.

Heavy Rainfall Warning: Isolated heavy rain is likely to occur over Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry and South Kerala during next 48 hours.
