Monthly magazine released

NEW DELHI NOV. 7. "Mandal Vichar'', described as a monthly magazine of social harmony, was released on Thursday by former Prime Minister V.P. Singh at the Constitutional Club here. The ceremony was presided over by the seasoned man of letters, Rajendra Yadav.

Mr. Singh said "Mandal stands for humanism as a cult of thought. This caste-based system in one way makes the lives of the depressed and oppressed laughable; on the other hand it converts the oppressor into an insensitive inhumane being. A man becomes a machine as soon as his honour is taken away."

Mr. Rajendra Yadav, Editor of Hans magazine, said the Mandal movement had been hijacked by a section of society. ``The dream to become masters turned the people into brutes. In five decades after Independence we have only two Prime Ministers who were visionaries— Nehru and V.P. Singh.''
