Announcing the launch of the visa application centre here, the United Arab Emirates Ambassador in India, Saeed M.Al Shamsi said that such value-added facilities would not only enhance business and tourism opportunities but also strengthen ties between India and Dubai. The opening of the centre was made possible by Emirates, UAE's national airline, which has offered to sponsor tourists to Dubai. The facility of simple procedures and faster clearance would be available to all passengers flying in and out of Dubai on Emirates. Passengers can apply for their Dubai visa at the application centre across key cities. Alternatively, in smaller cities, passengers can courier their original documents from any of the 86 designated Blue Dart outlets in 32 cities. Passengers gain from receiving an electronic visa as it negates the need for fax exchanges with Dubai and queuing at the deliver desk on arrival at the Dubai international airport. The centre would charge Rs. 3,000 for a visit visa for 59 days' stay and Rs. 1,000 for a 96-hour visa.
