By Our Staff Reporter

KURNOOL NOV. 7. Out of 39 suspected cases, six have tested positive for the polio wild virus in Kurnool district. Special focus is being laid on the six villages and 36 other surrounding villages during the sub-national immunisation days from November 9 to 11.

Addressing a press conference here on Friday, the District Medical Health Officer, K.K. Saiprasad, said the children who tested positive were identified as Gayatri at Gulyam in Halaharvi mandal, Anjaneyulu at Nemalikallu, Peddakadubur mandal, Raju at Dhanapur, Adoni mandal, Ramakrishna at Karini in Kautalam mandal, Vijayendra at Kadimetla and Roshan Kumar, Yemmiganur. A special campaign was being taken up in the villages where the positive cases were detected and the six villages surrounding the place within an eight km. range.

Dr. Saiprasad said steps were taken to cover every child visiting each household. The children who are away from home during the regular programme would be identified and vaccinated within a few days.
