Another laparoscope for Stanley college

CHENNAI NOV. 7. The Director of Medical Education, P. Vijayalakshmi, today dedicated a laparoscope, worth Rs. 10 lakhs, at the Department of General Surgery, Stanley Medical College. This is the fourth laparoscope acquired by the department.

Dr. Vijayalakshmi said laparoscopy ensured clinical accuracy in the diagnosis and treatment of abdominal disorders and quick recovery.

She stressed the need for introducing a training programme on laparoscopy for undergraduate and postgraduate students.

The head, Department of General Surgery, M. Raghuram, said the instrument, used to view internal contents through a small incision on the abdominal wall, would help undergraduate students receive hands-on training.

The Dean, Government Stanley Hospital, P. Siddhan, inaugurated a day- long continuous medical education programme on intestinal obstruction.
