Dr. Vijayalakshmi said laparoscopy ensured clinical accuracy in the diagnosis and treatment of abdominal disorders and quick recovery. She stressed the need for introducing a training programme on laparoscopy for undergraduate and postgraduate students. The head, Department of General Surgery, M. Raghuram, said the instrument, used to view internal contents through a small incision on the abdominal wall, would help undergraduate students receive hands-on training. The Dean, Government Stanley Hospital, P. Siddhan, inaugurated a day- long continuous medical education programme on intestinal obstruction.
