10 fast track courts planned

CHANDIGARH NOV. 8. Ten fast track courts have been set up in Haryana and a compensation of about Rs. 150 crores has so far been provided in cases of motor accident claims through the Lok Adalats, according to the Chief Minister, Om Prakash Chautala.

He was speaking at a function organised at Karnal today where Justice Y.K. Sabharwal of the Supreme Court of India inaugurated a judicial complex and laid the foundation stone of lawyers' chambers and a shed for the litigants.

Mr.Chautala said that his Government had decided to construct mini secretariats at the headquarters of sub-divisions. Judicial complexes had been set up at all district headquarters except Panipat, where it would be set up soon. Mr. Justice Sabharwal urged the lawyers and judicial officers to provide meaningful justice speedily and mitigate the sufferings of the litigants. He also urged them that while providing justice they should keep ethics and principles of the society in high esteem. Efforts should be made to fill up the existing vacancies of judicial officers beginning from the lower level in the country, he added.

The Chief Justice of the Punjab and Haryana High Court, B.K. Roy, said that three judges hailing from Karnal were with the Punjab and Haryana High Court and they included Justice V.K. Bali, Justice Amarjit Chaudhary and Justice N.C. Jain.
