Heavy rain likely in T.N., Pondy

CHENNAI NOV. 8 Northeast monsoon has been active over Tamil Nadu.

Rainfall occurred at most places over Tamil Nadu and at many places over Lakshadweep and at a few places over Kerala. Isolated rainfall occurred over Coastal Andhra Pradesh. zMainly dry weather prevailed over Coastal and South Interior Karnataka and dry weather prevailed over Rayalaseema, Telangana and North Interior Karnataka.

Ramanathapuram recorded heavy rainfall of 8 cm.

The other chief amounts of rainfall recorded in cms are: Tirukkoilur (Villupuram dt.) 6, Pamban and Coonoor 5 each, Vedaranyam, Tuticorin, Tiruchendur (Tuticorin dt.), Udhagamandalam and Perambalur 4 each, Chennai Airport, Parangipettai, Karaikal and Paramakudi (Ramanathapuram dt.) 3 each, Tambaram, Cholavaram, Poondi and Tamaraipakkam (all Tiruvallur dt.), Chidambaram and Virudhachalam (both Cuddalore dt.), Cuddalore, Nagapattinam, Cheranmadevi (Tirunelveli dt.), Palayamkottai, Aruppukkotai and Dindigul 2 each.

FORECAST (Valid until Monday morning): Rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at many places over Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry, South Kerala and Lakshadweep and at a few places over North Kerala. Isolated rain or thundershowers are likely to occur over South Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Rayalaseema, Coastal and South Interior Karnataka.

Heavy Rainfall Warning: Isolated heavy rain is likely over Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry and South Kerala during next 48 hours.
