While Mr. Bidhuri has been fielded from the Badarpur Assembly segment, represented by him from 1993 to 1998, as the Lok Janshakti Party candidate, the Nationalist Congress Party, Delhi unit president, Sukhbir Singh Panwar, will take up the challenge from the Malviya Nagar Assembly constituency. The sitting Janata Dal (S) MLA, Shoaib Iqbal, will seek re-election for the third consecutive time from his Matia Mahal Assembly segment. Of the 33 candidates announced so far, 11 are from the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), seven from Lok Janshakti Party (LJP), five from Janata Dal (Secular), four from the Rashtriya Lok Dal, two each from Labour Party, Republican Party and Samajwadi Janata Party. Mr. Bidhuri said that senior leaders of the various parties including the former Prime Ministers, Chandra Shekhar and H.D. Deve Gowda, NCP national president, Sharad Pawar, and Lok Janshakti Party president, Ram Vilas Paswan, would campaign for the candidates. He said the Front had been formed with the aim to provide an alternative to both the Congress and BJP, which had led down the people of Delhi. Mr. Bidhuri and Mr. Iqbal said that the Front could send the ball rolling for a larger formation of this nature at the national level before the Lok Sabha polls next year. Interestingly, the Front has also fielded former MLA, Jitender Kumar alias Kalu Bhaiya, from Bhalaswa Jehangirpuri constituency. The candidates of the Lok Janshakti Party are: Sunil Kumar Ujjainwal (Shakurbasti), Ved Prakash (Bawana), Nand Ram Bagri (Sultanpur Majra), Suresh Choudhary (Saket), Fateh Singh Gaurav (Kamla Nagar) and Anil Kumar Gautam (Baljeet Nagar). The list of Janata Dal (Secular) candidates is led by its sitting MLA, Shoaib Iqbal. The other candidates include: Islamuddin Nadeem (Minto Road), Asgar Khan (Okhla), Tilak Raj (Mehrauli) and Farid Khan (Chandni Chowk). The NCP candidates are: Anil Bawa (Kalkaji), Anil Mitter (Delhi Cantt.), Ramesh Kumar Yadav (Tilak Nagar), Harisharan Jeet Singh Saggu (Vishnu Garden), Adarsh K. Bhalla (Wazirpur), Ajay Tyagi (Adarsh Nagar), Kuldeep Choudhary (Sadar Bazar), Vijay Singh (Patel Nagar) and Sunil Sanwaria (Karol Bagh). The Rashtriya Lok Dal candidates are: Sat Pal Balmiki (Patparganj), A.R.Verma (Yamuna Vihar), Choudhary Ratan Singh (Rohtas Nagar), Kailash Wati (Narela). While, Maya Choudhary (Gandhinagar) and Girija Shanker Singh (Hastsal) are the Samajwadi Janata Party candidates; Chander Singh Mehrat (Rajouri Garden) and Shanker Lal (Madipur) are from the Labour Party. Shyam Kaur (Mangolpuri) and Ravinder Kumar Gupta (Vishwas Nagar) are the Republican Party candidates.
