Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG), Lucknow range Jagmohan Yadav told UNI here that of the killed, two were Dalit brothers and the third belonged to the upper caste. Police said 11 persons have been named in the FIR. While four have been arrested, several police teams have been despatched to nab those absconding, police added. Trouble started yesterday after some goats of a Dalit family strayed into the field of a Thakur in Adampur Bhashi village under Hasanganj police station last evening. This led to an altercation between the two sides which later flared into a major clash leading to the death of three people, he said. All the three -- Ram Naresh Singh, Sajivan Lal and Keshan Lal -- died on the spot in the shootout. Some others also received injuries, police added. The clash took place three days after eight people had been burnt alive in the same district following a row over a grazing incident. However, the situation was tense, but under control, the DIG said. Expressing concern over the incident, BJP state chief Vinay Katiyar and party state vice-president Hriday Narain Dixit said the law and order situation in the state had deteriorated beyond redemption. The death of 11 people in the same district within a span of three days was testimony to it, they added. -- UNI
