Monsoon vigorous over T.N.

CHENNAI NOV. 9 Northeast monsoon has been vigorous over Tamil Nadu.

Rainfall occurred at most places over Tamil Nadu and Lakshadweep, at many places over Coastal Karnataka and at a few places over Kerala and Interior Karnataka. zz

Isolated rainfall occurred over Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema and dry weather prevailed over Telangana.

Nagapattinam recorded very heavy rainfall of 17 cms.

The following stations recorded Heavy Rainfall in Cms: Kumbakonam (Thanjavur dt.) and Vedaranyam 11 each, Kodavasal (Thiruvarur dt.) and Jayamkondam (Peramblaur dt.) 9 each, Chidambaram (Cuddalore dt.), Karaikal, Mannargudi (Thiruvarur dt.) and Thiruchendur (Tuticorin dt.) 8 each and Thiruvarur and Mayiladuthurai (Nagapattinam dt.) 7 each.

FORECAST (Valid until Tuesday morning): Rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at many places over South Tamil Nadu, South Kerala and Lakshadweep and at a few places over North Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry, North Kerala and Coastal Karnataka. Isolated rain or thundershowers are likely to occur over South Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Rayalaseema and Interior Karnataka. Mainly dry weather will prevail over North Costal Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

Heavy Rainfall Warning: Isolated heavy rain is likely to occur over South Tamil Nadu during next 48 hours.
