A sad commentary

Sir, — The events are a sad commentary on our political system. Freedom of speech and expression is guaranteed by the Constitution and no one has a right to tamper with it.

Sir, — The sentencing of The Hindu's representatives is an attack on the entire Fourth Estate. Unmindful of the Supreme Court directives on effecting arrests, the Tamil Nadu police are again and again blatantly violating democratic norms. Let us shed the colonial mindset and strengthen democracy. Save The Hindu, save democracy!
