The GoM, meeting for the first time after the Union Cabinet gave its nod for the project last month, also decided to appoint a global technical advisor to assist Civil Aviation Ministry on the parameters of the design and construction of the two ultra-modern airports, which is estimated to cost about Rs. 5,000 crores. Observing that the process of privatisation of the two airports had been set in motion with today's meeting, the Civil Aviation Minister, Rajiv Pratap Rudy, said it would be monitored on a weekly basis and the schedule for the project would be finalised by May 30 next year. The empowered Group also approved the terms of reference for the proposed financial consultant. The two firms which could not make the grade are: Tata Economic Services and Price Waterhouse Cooper. Apart from Mr. Jaswant Singh and Mr. Rudy, the group comprised the Disinvestment Minister, Arun Shourie, and the Law Minster, Arun Jaitley.
