Sunita Godara appeals to IOC, WADA

NEW DELHI NOV. 10. Former Asian marathon champion Sunita Godara has appealed to the International Olympic Committee (IOC), World Anti Doping Agency (WADA) and other international sports organisations to intervene in the Indian doping imbroglio in order to bring it to a logical end.

In identical letters addressed to the IOC President, Jacques Rogge, WADA President, Richard Pound, the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) Secretary, Istvan Gyulai, the Secretary-General of the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), Matthieu Reeb, and the Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF) CEO, Michael Hooper, Ms. Godara has provided a resume of the dope testing done at the SAI laboratory here, the action taken — or the lack of action — in several positive cases, the continued unethical practice of pre-departure testing and her case before the Delhi High Court.

Ms. Godara has suggested that these international bodies seek a full report from the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) on the matter apart from taking action against the latter.
