Heavy rain likely in Lakshadweep

CHENNAI NOV. 10. Northeast monsoon has been active over Tamil Nadu.

Rainfall occurred at most places over Tamil Nadu and Lakshadweep and at a few places over South interior Karnataka. Isolated rainfall occurred over coastal Andhra Pradesh, Rayalaseema, Kerala and coastal Karnataka.

Minicoy recorded a heavy rainfall of 7 cm.

The other chief amounts of rainfall recorded in Cms. are: Cuddalore, Pondicherry Airport, Kodavasal and Needamangalam (both Tiruvarur dt) 5 each, Tiruvaiyaru (Thanjavur dt) 4, Chidambaram (Cuddalore dt), Thanjavur, Nagapattinam, Mylaudy (Kanyakumari dt) and Shivani (Chikmagalur dt) 3 each, Chennai, Cholavaram, Poondi and Thamaraipakkam (all Tiruvallur dt), Thammampatti (Salem dt), Coonoor, Perambalur, Arupukottai (Virudhunagar dt) and Tirupathi Airport 2 each.

FORECAST (Valid until Wednesday morning): Rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at many places over Lakshadweep and at a few places over coastal Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry. Isolated rain or thundershowers are likely to occur over Kerala, South coastal Andhra Pradesh and interior Tamil Nadu. Mainly dry weather will prevail over North coastal Andhra Pradesh, Rayalaseema, Telangana and Karnataka.

Heavy Rainfall Warning: Isolated heavy rain is likely to occur over Lakshadweep during next 48 hours.
