Two women naxals killed

KARIMNAGAR NOV. 11. The People's War Bheemgal and Sircilla area committee secretary, Swaroopa alias M. Latchmavva and the Bheemgal LGS member, Laxmi alias Manasa, were killed in an encounter with the police near Bongulagutta thanda on the outskirts of Thimmapur village in Yellareddypet mandal on Tuesday morning.

Police sources said that combing operations were conducted following information about the movement of naxalites in the forests. After seeing the police, seven naxalites opened fire and tried to escape. The police retaliated killing two naxalites. Others escaped in the cover of darkness.

One SLR and a .303 rifle, a few empty cartridges, two kit bags, water cans and other material were recovered from the spot.

Swaroopa, a native of Bheemnagar village in Bheemgal mandal of the Nizamabad district joined the PW 12 years ago and carried a reward of Rs.3 lakhs. She was involved in as many as 20 murders. Manasa hailed from Singarayapalli village of Machareddy mandal in Nizamabad district. She carried a reward Rs. 20,000.
