Robbery case: prince held

By Our Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI NOV. 11. Navdeep Randhawa, a 24-year-old prince of Mustafabad in Haryana, was arrested by the Inter-State Cell of the Crime Branch on Monday on charges of robbing the Swiss International Airlines office at the World Trade Tower on Barakhamba Road here in August.

Police also suspect his involvement in the abduction and rape of a Swiss diplomat last month as his description allegedly matches with that of one of the suspects.

While probing the Swiss diplomat rape case, the Inter-State Cell received a tip-off about a youth living in a flat in East Delhi. Investigations showed that Mr. Randhawa was from a Haryana royal family and living here in his father's flat since July.

Police tried to arrest him at his residence, but found the flat locked most of the time. On the basis of a specific information, they said they finally picked him up from the flat on Monday evening.

A team led by the Assistant Commissioner of Police, Ravi Shankar, has questioned Mr. Randhawa with regard to the Swiss diplomat case also.
