Store supervisor of A.P. Beverages trapped

HYDERABAD NOV. 11. The store supervisor of the A.P. Beverages Corporation Limited, Karimnagar unit, V. Kanakaiah, was arrested at his office on Tuesday by sleuths of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on the charge of accepting Rs. 1,000 bribe from the managing partner of a bar to issue popular brands of wine.

The tainted amount, which he concealed in a toilet after noticing the approaching ACB officials, was recovered, a press release said. He was being produced before the Special Judge for ACB Cases, Hyderabad.

Conviction confirmed

The six months rigorous imprisonment awarded to a Senior Assistant of the Hyderabad District Collectorate, V.J. Robert, in a corruption case, was confirmed by the Andhra Pradesh High Court.

He was convicted by the Principal Special Judge for ACB Cases on November 11, 1996, according to a press release. The court dismissed his appeal and confirmed the conviction.
