`Attack' on RTA officials flayed

By Our Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD NOV. 11. The Joint Commissioner (Transport), C.L.N. Gandhi, has condemned Tuesday's attack on two officials of the Road Transport Authority Office in Somajiguda allegedly by a group of contract bus operators.

In a press release, he said that between 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. on Tuesday a group of operators had entered into an argument with the Office Superintendent, Shekaraiah, and a Senior Assistant, Purushotham Reddy, over the issue of temporary permits. It soon turned physical and the duo was assaulted, he alleged.

Mr. Gandhi said a complaint had been lodged with the Punjagutta police. It was learnt that one of the accused had been picked up for questioning.

He said the administration would not bow down to pressure and that it would follow the procedure prescribed by the High Court while granting temporary permits.
