Letters to the Editor
Sir, The views expressed in The Hindu on the supremacy of the Constitution ( Nov. 12 ) truly reflect the understanding of those who support democracy. The citizens increasingly look to the Judiciary and the Press for protection of their legitimate rights, including the right to criticise the functioning of the Government. The legislators have to bear in mind these cherished goals and solemnly work the Constitution towards achievement of an egalitarian society. The Press and other mass media are considered effective channels for voicing the opinions of citizens on public issues. The legislators must feel obliged to the mass media for helping them know the pulse of the people. M. Govindaswamy, Chennai
