Third Front list

By Our Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI NOV. 12. Following breakdown of talks with the Congress for seat-sharing in Delhi, the Third Front today announced its second list of 15 candidates. With this, the Front has announced candidates for 48 seats and is holding talks with the Communist Party of India (Marxist) for a possible seat adjustment in the remaining constituencies.

Addressing a Press conference here, the Third Front chairman, Ramvir Singh Bidhuri, said it was unfortunate that talks with the Congress for forming a secular front did not materialise. Thanking the Congress president, Sonia Gandhi, for taking the initiative of holding talks with like-minded secular parties, Mr. Bidhuri said the political secretary to the Congress president, Ahmed Patel, had held talks with the Lok Janshakti Party and the Janata Dal (S) leaders for a seat sharing arrangement. But the Congress was only offering four seats while the entire Third Front parties were demanding at least 10. Stating that the talks did not progress even after several rounds were held, the Third Front chairman said the party would maintain equal distance from the BJP and the Congress. Surrounded by the Nationalist Congress party Delhi unit president, Sukhbir Singh Panwar and the Samajwadi Janata Party general secretary, H. N. Sharma, he announced the names of 15 candidates. The Congress was offering Saket, Badarpur, Matia Mahal and Nand Nagri seats to the Third Front constituents.

Mr. Bidhuri, who is contesting the polls from the Badarpur constituency, informed that the party would expose both the Congress and the BJP as they had failed the people of Delhi.

Following is the list of 15 candidates announced by the Third Front: Kalpana Kumar (Gole Market), Bhagat Ram (Kasturba Nagar), Onkar Kumar (Jangpura), Dinesh Jain (Janakpuri), Rajkumar (Tri Nagar), Rajinder Prasad Tayal (Shalimar Bagh), Dilip Kumar Aggarwal (Badli), Yogesh Basist (Shahbad Daulatpur), Mahavir Singh (Najafgarh), Manchand Sehrawat (Palam), Mempal (Tughlakabad), Virender Kushwaha (Mandawali), Shimla Beniwal (Seemapuri), Babu Khan Warsi (Babarpur) and Sunder Lal Patwa (Ghonda).
