3 held for taking bribes from IBM Corp.
SEOUL
NOV. 12.
Three military and company officials have been arrested on charges of taking bribes from a South Korean affiliate of U.S. computer giant, IBM Corp., a senior prosecutor said today. Those arrested are a procurement official at the South Korean navy and executives at state-run broadcaster KBS and KT Corp., the country's largest telecommunications company, said Kim Tae-hee, a Seoul district prosecutor leading the investigation.
The trio are accused of receiving up to 50 million won ($42,625) each in bribes from an executive of LG IBM, a joint venture between IBM and South Korean conglomerate LG, in return for helping IBM computers win procurement contracts, Mr. Kim said. AP
