`Withdraw Assembly order against journalists'

Pondicherry Nov. 12. A large number of volunteers of the DMK and a few other political parties responding to a call for a human chain agitation given by the DMK to protest the `gagging of press freedom and arrest of the DMK legislator in Tamil Nadu' held the stir on the thoroughfares of Anna Salai and J.N.Street and other areas today.

The convenor of the DMK, R. V. Janakiraman, along with the party vice-chairman, C. P. Tirunavukarasu, the legislators S P Sivakumar, R Siva, Annibal Kennedy and A M H Nazeem and representatives of the MDMK, the PMK participated in the agitation.

Slogans were raised by a section of participants against the order of the Tamil Nadu Assembly.

The agitators urged immediate withdrawal of the order.
