The Chief Minister, A.K. Antony, told presspersons after the Cabinet meeting that the Opposition demand for convening of the Assembly was still under the consideration of the Government. No much discussion had taken place on the subject in the Cabinet today. The Chief Minister said that as per Constitutional provisions, the Assembly needed to meet at least once in six months. It was for the Cabinet to decide whether it should meet earlier. As of now, there was no circumstances requiring summoning of the Assembly. The Government enjoyed majority in the House "None of us have any doubt about it." If the Opposition convinces the Governor that the Government had lost its majority, the Governor would ask the Cabinet to convene the Assembly. "The moment it does so, we are willing to convene the House." He said dharna was not the means to be employed by the Opposition to press for summoning of the Assembly. Instead, they should give a list of their supporters to the Governor. The Assembly was the proper forum to demonstrate majority.
