Reconciliation

Sir, — The Hindu has done it again in the larger interests of the country. It has invoked the spirit of reconciliation. You have established that the Constitution is supreme and integral to our national spirit.

Sir, — To quote the famous U.S. Supreme Court judge, William O. Douglas, "acceptance by government of a dissident press is a measure of the maturity of a nation." The Supreme Court has issued stay orders and the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister has said the Government will comply. It is a healthy development.
