Two `conduits' of Telgi held

By Our Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI NOV. 13. Two alleged conduits of Abdul Karim Telgi, prime accused in the over Rs.3,000-crore scam in printing and supply of fake revenue stamps, stamp papers and other Government documents, have been arrested by the Economic Offences Wing of the Delhi Police. They have been identified as Lalit Pataudi and Sushant Kumar Dass.

The EOW had arrested seven members of the Telgi gang and recovered a huge consignment of such fake documents. In October last year, the EOW had arrested Mohammad Ashif, Mohsin, Mansoor, Deepak, Pramod, Shekhar and Sham Pataudi for their alleged involvement in the bulk sale of counterfeit revenue stamps, stamp papers and non-judicial stamp papers. Pramod alleged that Sham's brother, Lalit, was also involved in the racket. Lalit, who was arrested in October, revealed that he was mainly into property dealing and had his offices at Connaught Place. Around five years ago, he came in contact with one Shiraz, a transporter and close accomplice of Telgi, who arranged his meeting with Pramod. At Pramod's insistence, Lalit rented out one of his offices at Connaught Place to Telgi's gang members.
