JD(S) names 22 candidates

BANGALORE NOV. 14. The Janata Dal (Secular), headed by the former Prime Minister and MP, H.D. Deve Gowda, has selected 22 candidates for 20 seats to contest the December 1 biennial elections to the Legislative Council from the local authorities constituency. Elections will be held for 25 seats of the 75-member Upper House.

The JD(S) has selected three former ministers and one MLC. The party candidates are: K.R. Prabhavathi (Mandya); the former Minister, H. Ekanthaiah (Chitradurga); B.B. Patil (Bijapur); P. Eshwar Bhat (Dakshina Kannda); the former Minister, D. Nagarajaiah (Tumkur); the former Deputy Chairman of the Legislative Council, David Simeon, or Shankaranna Onnakal (Gulbarga); Anil Lad Sandur (Bellary); Chidananda (Mysore); the former Minister, M.S. Patil (Raichur); P.T. Nayak (Uttara Kannada); Jagannath K. (Bangalore Urban district); Range Gowda or E. Krishnappa (Bangalore Rural district); the MLC, Satish Jarakihola (Belgaum); Baburao Guttagi (Bidar); Tipperudraiah (Chikmagalur); B.A. Dandin (Dharwad); Patel Shivaram (Hassan); S.P. Mahadevappa (Kodagu); K.V. Nagaraj (Kolar); and S.T. Krishne Gowda (Shimoga), according to a press release issued by the Secretary-General of the JD(S), C. Narayanaswamy.
