Cong. leader scoffs at Naidu's anti-naxal stance

By Our Staff Reporter

NELLORE NOV. 15. The senior Congress functionary and member of the dissolved Assembly, Anam Vivekananda Reddy, has asked the Chief Minister, Chandrababu Naidu, to spell out his strategy with regard to naxalism.

Addressing a press conference here on Saturday, he lashed out at the Chief Minister who, he said, remained a silent spectator when scores of people and public representatives were being gunned down by extremists. The Government, which at that time failed to take any relevant measures to curb the menace, has strangely put forward extremism as a reason for dissolving the Assembly.

In addition, the ruling party has taken to mud slinging against the Congress. Mr. Reddy wanted to know how the Congress sought to stifle development in State. He said the verdict in the ZP elections were clearly against the Government's policies with regard to hike in electricity charges. Even then, there was no introspection on the part of the Government. On the other hand, the legitimate powers for the local bodies were continuously denied. With regard to ration cards, he pointed that for the last seven years, people have been seeking the facility, but the Government remained indecisive. Now suddenly ration coupons were to be distributed.

Mr. Reddy pointed out that people knew what was going on in the State and was sure that Mr. Naidu would become a permanent former Chief Minister.
