Daler still untraced

Patiala Nov. 15. The pop singer, Daler Mehndi, facing charges of illegal human trafficking, today remained untraced even as the Punjab police carried out searches at his possible `hideouts' in various places.

Claiming that the Punjabi singer was left with ``limited options,'' the Patiala SSP, A.S. Rai, said search parties sent yesterday to several places were likely to return and report here within a couple of days. ``Either he should surrender before the magistrate or appear before police,'' Mr. Rai said.

The singer has failed to get any relief from courts here, or at Delhi and Chandigarh as his anticipatory bail pleas were rejected. After dismissal of his anticipatory bail plea by the Punjab and Haryana High Court, Mr. Daler's counsel had claimed that his client would move the Supreme Court.

The Punjab Chief Minister, Amarinder Singh, told presspersons at the Indore Press Club today that ``Mr. Daler cannot evade arrest for long as investigations have revealed that he used to take people along with his troupe to foreign countries and then leave them there.'' — PTI
