Raveena apologises for `vulgar' dances at festival inaugural

By Our Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD NOV. 15. The Chairperson, Children's Film Society of India (CFSI), Raveena Tandon, on Saturday apologised for the `obscene and vulgar' dance numbers that marked the inaugural of the International Children's Film Festival on Friday.

Speaking to presspersons here, Ms. Raveena said she was not aware that such dances were scheduled at the end of the inaugural. "Even I was shocked and displeased. I fully agree that what was staged was not appropriate," she said.

The dances, children gyrating to popular film songs, did not figure in what originally was chalked out for the evening at Lalitha Kala Thoranam. "The function was to close with the vote of thanks but the decision on those dance numbers seem to be an impromptu one since a South Indian star was around," she sought to explain.
