By Our Special Correspondent

DHARWAD Nov. 15. The S.D.M. College of Dental Sciences here has completed two years of providing relief to children with cleft-lip and palate, in collaboration with "Smile Train'', a U.S.-based organisation, which has been funding the project for the past four years.

The parents of the children attended a function here to mark the occasion with a sense of gratitude for the relief they received under the project free of cost. The authorities of the college headed by Bhaskar Rao, Principal, joined the parents in sharing the joy. Dr. Rao and his team conducted surgery on 1,300 children during the two years.

The authorities of "Smile Train" led by Delois Greenwood, Vice-President, Strategic Project, and Satish Kalra, Regional Director, South Asia, were happy with the progress achieved in the implementation of project in Dharwad, which is one of the three assisted by them in the State.

"This is a model for all the projects we have undertaken in 227 hospitals in 53 countries,'' Ms. Greenwood said. Referring to the celebration of Children's Day on Friday, she said every day should be celebrated as Children's Day through the project.
