He told presspersons here on Saturday that the move had been necessitated after a tragic incident involving the President of the Anekal municipality, who reportedly committed suicide after a meeting of the local body. "After that incident, we held a meeting with some of the presidents of the local bodies. It was felt that recording the proceedings would help us in getting correct information. Shortly, orders will be issued to all the municipal bodies in this regard," Mr. Mitash said. Earlier in the day, he held a meeting with people's representatives and municipal workers, who are at loggerheads for the past few months. "We have sorted out all difference between them amicably. Both of them have agreed to cooperate with each other in the interest of the public. They have also agreed to uphold the rule of law in the administration," he said. He added that the workers had withdrawn the "undeclared boycott" of councillors with immediate effect. "The boycott was a very unfortunate incident. The rights and privileges of the President of the city municipal council will be restored immediately and they will be respected by the workers also,'' Mr. Mitash said. The Deputy Commissioner, M.A. Sadiq, who was present at the meeting of the workers and the councillors, asked both the parties to prepare a project to improve the town. Mr. Mitash assured the councillors that he would visit the town after a month and steps would be taken to expedite work on the ongoing projects. Speaking to The Hindu, Mr. Mitash said he had asked the Deputy Commissioner to identify the guilty in the "Ashraya scam". "We have received a list of around 38 persons accused in that scam. It is very vague. We have asked the Deputy Commissioner to be specific," he said.
