By Our Staff Reporter

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM Nov. 15. In the continuing crackdown on unauthorised lottery outlets across the State, enforcement squads sealed as many as 200 outlets in various districts for violating the Kerala State Lotteries (Regulation) Act, 1998.

A team of Lottery department officials and enforcement officers clamped down on illegal lottery outlets during raids conducted in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Kannur and Kasaragod districts. The squads had sealed 25 outlets in Pathanamthitta, 24 in Kollam, 20 in Thiruvananthapuram and 7 in Kottayam by noon.

A clandestine `single-number' lottery outlet being operated from a building located near the Walayar checkpost in Palakkad and three other lottery sale centres were also raided and sealed.

Meanwhile, the District Lottery Officer of Wayanad was suspended for dereliction of duty in taking measures against illegal lotteries.
