Centre blamed for suicide by farmers

BANGALORE Nov. 15. Speakers at a seminar today on suicide by farmers were of the opinion that the Centre's "anti-farmer policies" and not drought was the reason for farmers taking the extreme step.

"The Government says the drought has led to suicides. But our farmers are courageous enough to face ten more droughts like this. They are actually disgusted with the anti-farmer policies. Ever since 1990, farmers have been put to great hardship due to globalisation and policies on and fertilizer subsidy," one of the speakers said.
