Letters to the Editor
Sir, The decision of the Norwegian Government to withhold further participation in the Sri Lankan peace talks is most unfortunate. It would be better for all concerned if the Sri Lankan President, Chandrika Kumaratunga, and the Prime Minister, Ranil Wickremesinghe, could sink their differences and work together for finding a solution to the decades-old ethnic strife.
V. Padmanabhan,
Bangalore * * * Sir, Norway is in a similar position that India was years ago. The LTTE proposals, bordering on an independent state, are atrocious. Ms. Kumaratunga only took steps to preserve the integrity of Sri Lanka. The LTTE has been misusing the ceasefire for strengthening its base with a view to dictating terms.
C. Lakshmi Narain,
